Concepts of Time and Destiny in the Koran and Prophecy, Politics and Astrology in a Pseudo-platonic Text of the 10th century CE

Tamer stayed at the consortium in summer 2010 researching a) concepts of time and destiny in the Koran, in which he continues his research on time and God as Hellenistic concepts of time in old Arabic poetry and in the Koran (see his publication: "Zeit und Gott: Hellenistische Zeitvorstellungen in der altarabischen Dichtung und im Koran (Studien zur Geschichte und Kultur des Islamischen Orients), Berlin: De Gruyter 2008). The outcomes of the second part of his research he will partly present through a lecture to be presented at the coming annual conference under the title b) "Prophecy, Politics and Astrology in a Pseudo-platonic Text of the 10th century CE" (Prophetie, Politik und Astrologie in einem pseudoplatonischen arabischen Text des 10. Jahrhunderts). Tamer is well known for his research on Islamic philosophy and mysticism and enriches the consortium's focus with respect to the Islamic world.
